Meet Dr. John
Dr. John B. Benton, Jr. earned his bachelor's degree in zoology and his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from LSU, followed by a Certificate in Orthodontics. Board-certified and a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, Dr. Benton has practiced in Calhoun County since 1985. He is renowned for introducing the Damon Braces System to the community.
Upon completing his orthodontic training, Dr. Benton was recognized for his commitment to excellence in orthodontics. His dedication extends beyond his practice; he enjoys family time and global fishing adventures. Dr. Benton's notable achievements include meeting his wife during spring break, accomplishing a fly fishing grand slam, and being an LSU track team member.
His contributions to the field and community have earned him various awards, solidifying his reputation as a leading orthodontist in the area.
Meet Dr. Barry
Dr. J. Barry Benton earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Furman University and then his Doctorate of Medical Dentistry from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He furthered his education with a Certificate in Orthodontics and a Master of Science in Dentistry from the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry. In 2016, Dr. Barry joined his father at Designer Smiles by Benton.
As one of the youngest board-certified orthodontists and a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, Dr. Barry has quickly established himself in the field. Outside the office, he enjoys various activities, including fishing, technology, cooking, and gardening. He is also a dedicated volunteer baseball coach at a local high school.
Dr. Barry is married to Brittain Benton, and they have three children: Brooklynn, Olivia, and Harrison. Their household includes two pet cats, Emma and Mr. Whiskers, and a Goldendoodle named Teddy. Known for his fun personality, Dr. Barry is an aerial swing dancer, a CrossFit athlete, and Designer Smiles’ unofficial technology expert.
